  stars of the snowboarding scene On the 6th of December '97 Innsbruck's famous Bergisel stadium will again open it's doors for the 5th Quiksilver Air & Style Snowboard Contest - it's first round birthday. About 25.000 spectators will gather from all over Europe - fans who want to experience their snowboarding idols performance live! Innsbruck will again be „the Boarder's City" and center of the Snowboarding scene for two days. Heroes of the Straight Jump - 16 invited Riders from the USA and Europe - stars of the Freestyle and Freeride scene will try their best tricks and show unbelievable jumps - remember last years 1080° shown by Wolfi Schröter? The unique jump construction - planned and built by consultant pro riders - will fulfill the requirements of our top stars and will allow up to 30 m jumps. As soon as they land the riders will take off again in the Quarterpipe. Facts: 35 m long inrun, 3.790 m³ steel construction, 700 m³ of snow - a total of 15 truckloads of equipment will be put together during seven weeks of hard work. Prizes - At the straight-jump competition the 16 riders will jump for US$ 100.000,-- - the world's highest prize money paid for one discipline. Plus additional surprises! The winner will travel to the Quiksilver Pro G-Land in Java in June 98. This contest is part of the worlds pro surfing circuit and is considered to be the best surfing contest ever. The best Quarterpipe Jumps in the finals of the main contest will be judged by a prominent jury - and the winner will receive a Harley Davidson motorcycle! Bands - Faith No More and Bad Religion are invited by MTV. They will heat up the riders and spectators between the qualification and final runs - top performance 'on snow' as well as 'on stage' - party atmosphere and a build up of excitement until the final - the Bergisel - a swelter of emotions. The event will be broadcast by MTV Sports on December 29th 1997 10.30 p.m. - check it out! Qualification Munich Quarterpipe Challange - Additionally 32 nominated riders will have the possibility to compete in a seperate Quarterpipe Challenge.The Top-8 will win a starting place in th Munich Quaterpipe Challenge taking place on 10th January, 98 in the Olympiahall, Munich. About 5.000 - spectators, riders and bands will get together for a party of special style and dance until daybreak. Location: The Hafen" - an area in the west of Innsbruck. The party will be in two different halls lying close to one anther. Music: FM4-DJ's in the main hall and Favority Tools DJ's in the smaller one. Air & Style CD - For the second year, Air & Style is releasing a compilation record. This year's album - being released on Air & Style Records - is a cool mix of established bands up and coming "Buzz Bands" and hip-hop/beat/dance-bands from UK and German scene.
