2013 Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol

The 20th anniversary of the Air & Style went down in Innsbruck on Feb. 1st & 2nd 2013. More than 50 riders, 4 Bands and 16500 Fans celebrated this epic weekend and witnessed one of snowboarding's most legendary weekends with a never seen before riders field. The burn style session on friday featured snowboarding legends such as Terje Haakonsen, Mike Basich and 3 time winner Stefan Gimpl. Saturday saw the Billabong Air & Style contest with Eric Willett taking the win followed by Sebastien Toutant and Aleks Ostreng. Sebastien Toutant also took home the World Snowboard Tour Big Air Champion Trophy.

In the fifth episode of the Grilosodes, Marko heads to Innsbruck, Austria to compete in the famous Billabong Air & Style snowboard contest. Along with his stylish riding, Marko throws down some impressive tricks to make a run for the top of the podium.

More than 50 riders arrived in Innsbruck this week to kick of the 20th season anniversary of the legendary Air & Style in Innsbruck. Today was the first day of practice with perfect conditions both setup and weather and everything is set to make it the most EPIC event of the season.

It's heating up at the Bergisel in Innsbruck. First legendary party went down last night and the stadium is almost packed for todays Billabong Air & Style and the chase for the Ring of Glory. Also the live voting for your favorite model is on. VOTE!

In front of more than 10.500 spectators, Eric Willett took the top spot at the anniversary-Air&Style at the Bergisel Stadium Innsbruck with a Switch Backside 1260 Mute (88.33 points). In the Super Final of the best four, he left Sebastien Toutant (2./Cab Double Cork 1260 Melon/83.33 points), Aleksander Ostreng (3./Backside 1260 Mute/ 75.00 points) and Mark McMorris (4./Cab 1260 Indy/ 73.00 points) behind. He therefor took home 1,000 World Snowboard Tour points, the Ring of Glory and the lion's share of the 75.000 Euro prize purse. Mark McMorris (96.00 points) got the highest score of the evening for his Backside Triple Cork 1440 Mute from round 3. Last year's winner Peetu Piiroinen ended up in 10th place. At the same time, the Big Air Champion of the World Snowboard Tour was crowned at the last 6Star Big Air event of the season. Ending up in second place, Sebastien Toutant managed to take over the Champions title.

Feb. 1st & 2nd 2013, Bergisel Stadium Innsbruck with Die Fantastischen Vier, Mac Miller and Kraftklub live on stage and burn Style Session on friday - the Air & Style heads into it's 20th season and celebrates it with a 2 day event. 

Kevin Pearce wins the Nokia Air & Style Munich 2007

Kevin Pearce has taken victory in the Nokia Air & Style 07 at the Munich Olympic Stadium. He prevailed at the superfinal with 286 opoints over Mikkel Bang (281 points), Torstein Horgmo (277 points) and David Benedek (269 points). His winning trick was a combination of Cab 1260 to Crail. 

Tim Humphreys won the Rookie Challenge, beating the world's best snowboard youngsters. 

Daniel Bodin won the premiere of the Freestyle Snowmobile contest ahead of Chris Burandt and Aleks Norgaard. Their show with backflips on snowmobiles weighing 200 kg was a breathtaking experience.

Over 28.000 in the Olympic Stadium celebrated esthetically. Sean Paul, the Hives and 30 Seconds to Mars added their great performances to the atmosphere. It was an extraordinary and unforgettable night again.

Highlights of the Oakley Shaun White Air & Style Beijing 2012 that went down in the National Stadium (Bird's Nest) on December 8th 2012.

Beijing, the capital city of China and home to over 20 million people played host to 24 of the planet's best freestyle snowboarders at this year's Oakley Shaun White Air&Style. This is the first top ranked six star event of the season. Just three years after making it on to the scene, Beijing is already an iconic stop on the World Snowboard Tour.

Air & Style's iconic head-to-head format has seen many cruel draws over the years - this season's bib draw saw best friends and fellow Americans, Chas Guldemond and Sage Kotsenburg pitted against each other in the first round.
By landing his über-stylish Backside Double Cork 1080 Japan, Sage automatically took Chas out of the competition. 

This year's Air&Style was the „crusher" of favorites.
Current World Tour Big Air Champion, Seppe Smits stomped his Backside Double Cork 1080 Nosegrab in round one but couldn't pass round 2.

Seb Toots, winner in 2010, made it through round 1 with an almost perfect Backside Double Cork 1080 Mute, but faced highly motivated Roope Tonteri in the second round.
With a 7th place finish, Roope secured his lead in the Big Air and Overall Ranking of the World Snowboard Tour.

Another favorite bites the dust. Marc McMorris, smoothed his way through Round 1 and 2, but when facing Matthias Weissenbacher in Round 3, he struggled on the landing of his Backside Triple Cork 1440 Mute. 

The door was wide open for 16 year old japanese rider Yuki Kadono, but only the performance of a lifetime would see him on the podium. With variation and style he marched through the early rounds and with his jaw dropping Backside Double Cork 1260 Mute in round 3 he managed to enter the superfinal. With one last run to go Yuki threw a huge Backside Triple Cork 1440 mute, winning the contest and making him the youngest Air&Style winner ever -- a record previously held by snowboarding wunderkind Shaun White.

On December 3rd the Oakley and Shaun White Air & Style took place at the famous Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing. 1st place went to Ulrik Badertscher followed by Torstein Horgmo and Stale Sandbech in 2nd and 3rd place.

Everything is set in the stadium. A perfect kicker perched high in the famous Bird's Nest and is ready to launch the world's greatest riders into flight for the world´s premier snowboarding event, and the heat started cranking up in Thursday's and Friday's practice sessions. Seppe Smits explored the breath-taking Chinese wall and talked about his passion to travel the world, all while throwing himself of massive Big Air jumps such as this massive one.

Recovering well and hoping to be back on snow as soon as possible, Kevin Pearce, still is one of snowboardings living legends - endlessly entertaining and inspiring to millions. So in tribute to all his skill and the adversity he's over come this last year we made this video - The Best Of Kevin Pearce. It features all the highlights from his many years on the TTR World Snowboarding Tour and some of his funniest moments.

The Billabong Ante Up competition, the first 5Star event of the 2010/11 Swatch TTR World Tour season, went off today with an excellent showing from a diverse field of riders. The summertime event was held up at 7,000-feet in the Camp of Champions park on the Blackcomb glacier and featured a massive 75-foot gap jump. The event featured 40 riders going for a piece of the $50,000 prize purse and 850 TTR ranking points. It was an all-Canadian podium and Sebastien Toutant (CAN) took the top spot making him $20,000 richer. Toutant also secured an automatic invite to the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck.
