Finnish rider Peetu Piiroinen wins the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 2012 ahead of Seppe Smits (BEL) and Niklas Mattsson (SWE) / Seppe Smits crowned TTR Big Air Champion 2012 / 12,500 in completely sold out stadium.

With every ticket, pass and overage slot completely sold out the world´s best snowboarders were in the highest of spirits despite record-breaking cold weather at the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 2012. In the Superfinal Peetu Piiroinen prevailed with Backside 1260 Mute Grab (91.70 points) over Seppe Smits (91.13) and Niklas Mattsson (89.53), who came from the event qualification rounds to finish on the podium in third place. With his second place tonight Seppe Smits tallied up enough series points to become the TTR World Tour Big Air Champion for 2012.

As always Air & Style’s perfectly shaped kicker delivered incredible riding from the start of the night in packed stadium. The crowd partied and danced the below freezing degrees away to live performances by Sido and the Beatsteaks.

We have no shortage of winter weather in Innsbruck for all to enjoy this year! Snow conditions could not be any better, and the temperatures that are expected between now and the end of the event look to keep it that way! A word to the wise though, it will be one of the coldest Air & Style events we've had, so be sure to dress very warm, jump and scream all night to the sounds of SIDO and the Beatsteaks, and of course for the world's greatest snowboarders!

Mark McMorris will not compete on Saturday Feb. 4th at the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 2012. His Sponsor, Red Bull, intervened one week before the event and forced Mark to break his written agreement to compete at the Air & Style, to participate at a Red Bull owned show-event in Northamercia.
The damage to Mark is that he is prevented from defending his Air & Style title from last year and now he can’t earn enough points to win the TTR World Tour Big Air Championship, a title he had a great shot at winning.
It also is a big disappointment for the fans of the young Canadian snowboarder who were looking forward to his appearance.
Italian rider Marko Grigis will be given a qualification spot to complete the 26 strong riderslist.

Not only the winner of the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol will be awared but the TTR
World Snowboard Tour Big Air Champion will be crowend as well. Eric Willet (USA), Seppe
Smits (BEL), Stale Sandbech (NOR) and last years Air & Style winner Mark McMorris (CAN)
are the 4 riders to battle it out.

The party starts with the journey !

With the Raiffeisen Club Party-Train easy form Vienna to Innsbruck to the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck-Tirol 2012. The 24 hour party starts in Vienna over St. Pölten, Linz, Wels, Vöcklabruck and Salzburg to Innsbruck and back.
