
The Munich Quarterpipe Challenge - a fresh and new challenge for organizers and performing riders. The first indoor event organized by the Air & Style Company will take place in Munich's famous Olympiahall on the 10th of January 1998. The Riders - the starting field is made up of 24 riders: 16 invited and 8 qualified. Top stars of the world's freestyle scene will compete with qualified talents - new faces who can compete in an open qualification that was held in Innsbruck at the 5th Air & Style Snowboard Contest on December 6th, 1997. The Quarterpipe - an enormous construction, planned and constructed by Greg Notter, the king of jump constructions. The inrun is built down the 20m high terrace of the stadium. The Quarterpipe is a 5 m high and more than 20 m wide monster - a guarantee for extreme and spectacular jumps. Imported snow will be covering this steel monster -an indoor event with natural conditions in a very special atmosphere. VIVA presents - Snowboarding and music - a wicked combination! During the event Such a Surge will play live and directly after the contest there will be Eskimos & Egypts performing and heating up the crowd before spectators and riders join together at Snowboarder MBM Party for dancing until daybreak. Meeting point: Kunstpark Ost (Galerie). The prizes - good riders - good prizes! 24 riders will compete for a total prize money of US$ 75.000,--. Watch out for some surprises!
