About the record

Air & Style, The Ultimate Snowboard Compilation, Volume II

The word on the street is that the hottest new record is the compilation released by Air & Style Records entitled The Ultimate Snowboard Compilation, Volume II! The record features such heavy weights as Faith No More, Bad Religion and Massive Attack. That is ONLY the beginning. The record is an infectious mixture of international music covering the coolest bands in rock, hip hop and experimental dance music. The music begins with a driving track by Bad Religion and is immediately followed by Ready or Not by Manbreak, a new band coming out of England and starting to create a real buzz here in Germany. Nancy Boy by Placebo creates a pace that is kept up by Eskimos & Egypt with its excellent song Wonderland. Eskimos and Egypt, by the way, will be playing at the Munich Quarterpipe Challenge show that Air & Style is promoting together with VIVA on January 10, 1998 at the Olympic Hall in Munich. You can catch all the great Munich action by logging on to our web site at http://www.air-style.com!!! The show will also be broadcast by television stations throughout the world and seen by over One Hundred Million viewers. Faith No More and Bad Religion headline the Air & Style Snowboard Contest this year which is held in Innsbruck on December 6 and not only attended by over Thirty Thousand people but also televised by MTV and enough television stations that can be seen by over Two Hundred Twenty Million viewers worldwide!!! Their Internet site will also feature the record and last year during the two days of the event the site was visited by over Two Hundred Fifty Thousand fans.

Back to the record...One of the interesting things about this project is the inclusion of the hottest new hip hop and experimental dance tracks from around the world. Merry Go Round by the band Pfilbryte is the first hip hop taste you get on the record and you know immediately why the track is streaking up the charts in America. Massive Attack has contributed a limited release remix version of Risingson that totally makes one look for the bong. But wait! The record is like riding a wave or snowboarding down a mountain. It takes you in every direction. Thus, Sexpod, (hed)pe, Faith No More, Rule 62 and Rinderwahnsinn start slammin. Just when you think you have had enough, Take It by The Athletico Burough Upsetters and Let's Get Some Girls, the tracks from the great new English experimental dance and big beat label, Athletico Records, get you wanting to go to the nearest Rave.

After returning from the Rave, the hip hop continues with a „rad" track from a Canadian hip hop band BTK called Corncob Pipe. This is a track that could be a real hit on its own and lets you relax for a while is again just an illusion. The band Steak Knife on Semaphore Records kicks up the dust with the song It's My Life. Just what do they mean by „It's My Life, so Fuck You"? Farmer Boys which was featured in our October/November issue brings their talents forward with „When Pigs Fly". Farmer Boys will be appearing at the First European Snowboarder Awards show on December 5 in Innsbruck which is being covered by MTV and numerous other stations. These people at Air & Style seem to know how to tie in their record to every thing they do ! I hear they are planning on releasing a second compilation record in cooperation with Snowboarder Monster Backside magazine early next year. Busy guys.

Well, the record ends with Sream: Boomsday of Rap by the Jeep Beat Collective and Hysterical Intermission by Mind Bomb, the pure hip hop put out by Dave the Ruf from England and believe me it leaves you with eager anticipation as to what these people at Air & Style Records have up their sleeves for the next records. But, do not wait. Take an hour or so and listen to this record. You will NOT be disappointed.
