The Ruf & Mark one met in 93 as a result of both hosting rival pirate radio shows in Manchester (Soul Nation & Frontline). With the Ruf already on Wax as a DJ (the Ruf N'Rugged Mix)/MC & Producer too (THE ROOF - BOOMO 1 EP), Mark one sax that the Ruf was one of the few heads making hip hop moves in a town where every other musician was going house crazy.
In Feb 94 the Ruf shut his record shops to concentrate on the Ruf label. spending a year to master the Home Studio he'd set up, the Ruf slowly began to encapture an original vibe in his beats that would suit the intelligent lyrics he had already stockpiled.

Hip hop as brainfood - complimented by explosive beats. Or more simply put ....MINDBOMS.

Experimenting with his production & getting the best out of Mark One & New DJ Jaypee (see Mindbomb's early tracks) by 95 he was ready to unleash a salvo of UK hip hop with chunky beats & heavy cuts all soaked by heaps of originality. In Jan 95 „Stop Ya Skemes" 12" dropped followed by the excellent „Chameleon Vibes" EP & „Instrumental Trips" LP in July 95, all to critical acclaim. That summer the seminal „Trippin' Thru The Minefield" Volumes 1 (released Dec 95) and 2 (July 96) were recorded showcasing the musical diversity & Mindbomb's unique vision & observation's on the current stress of a F@ked up generation.

Their bastardized UK slant on the „Fast Becoming Slower" R & B mediocrity of US hip hop won over the media & fans of Portishead, DJ Food, Beastie Boys, P.E., Skaters, Jazzheads & Vinyl Junkie's. At the „In the City" Music Seminar in Sept 96 the Mindbomb became complete when a crazy B-boy decided after hearing the Ruf's chameleon vibes, that his destiny awaited.

Within 1 month the crazy, dark M.C. knows as Loz was fully operational - backing up the Ruf rhymes with unrivalled enthusiasm & with Jaypee falling off, it was now obvious to the crew that 3 was indeed the magical number.

Through 96 the Lads performed more shows than any other hip hop act - finely tuning their complete hip hop experience, when the Ruf wrote 2 new cuts „Westwood Is a Tw@t" & „Metacosmic Dimension's" to soak up all the 3's influences.

With the release of these tunes on Rufo 12 & Rufo 14 and especially the controversy surrounding their Dis of wack DJ Tim Westwood, their position as a premier league UK crew is undoubtable & with „Metacosmic" licensed to big life offshoot bolshi & „Hazardous Journey" on the forthcoming „Bomb Worldwide" LP, their audience is increasing all the time.

Now known as 1 of the best live hip hop crews Mindbomb are constantly developing/improving their music & live performances. By bringing out their star potential & influences they'll take British Beat Science/Hip hop 2 another dimension.
